Question 1

Who is Monumize for?

Accepted Answer

Monument shops and cemeteries that letter stones in-house, adding a date or a line to a headstone that is already set. Families planning an inscription can use our free tools to preview fonts and wording, then take the plan to their monument shop.

Question 2

Do I need CAD experience?

Accepted Answer

No. You upload a phone photo, pick a font, and type the new inscription. You download standard cut files (R12 DXF written for Gerber OMEGA and sign software, EPS for Illustrator or CorelDRAW, PLT, PDF, SVG and a CAD DXF). Try the free sample files in your own software first.

Question 3

Do I need special equipment to take the photo?

Accepted Answer

Any phone camera works. Enter the stone’s width and height (or put a coin or card in the frame if you don’t have them) and we scale everything from that.

Question 4

How accurate are the measurements?

Accepted Answer

You enter the stone’s size and set the four corners of the polished face, which squares the photo to the stone’s true proportions. In our tests on sample images, letter size was typically within about 1%. Results on real stones depend on the photo and the measurements you enter, so always check the outline on your photo and the 1:1 PDF against the stone before cutting.

Question 5

What if the font match is wrong?

Accepted Answer

You pick the font yourself from 22 monument fonts. We rank them against the lettering already on the stone and show each one on the actual date, but the choice is always yours.

Question 6

How many previews do I get per job?

Accepted Answer

As many as you need. The outline on your photo updates live as you change the text, font, size or spacing.

Question 7

What file formats do I receive?

Accepted Answer

An R12 DXF made for Gerber OMEGA and sign software (true arcs, closed outlines), EPS, PLT (HP-GL), a 1:1 PDF, SVG, an R2010 CAD DXF with units set, and a placement sheet. All come from the same geometry, so they match each other exactly.

Question 8

Are the measurements in inches or millimeters?

Accepted Answer

Inches. The R12 DXF has no units header, so the file name says “inches”; the CAD DXF sets $INSUNITS to inches. Millimeters are shown alongside in the app.

Question 9

How much does Monumize cost?

Accepted Answer

Your first job is free. After that it is $49 per job, plus sales tax where it applies, paid by card when you download. Creating an account, matching the stone and checking the new date on your photo are free. One payment unlocks every file for that job, including re-generated ones, and you get an invoice by email.

Question 10

Can I try it first?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sign up, photograph a stone and see the new date on it in its own lettering at no cost. Your first job’s cut files are free too (one free job per account, no card needed). After that you are only charged when you click Pay $49 & download.

Question 11

When am I charged?

Accepted Answer

Only when you choose to download the cut files for a job. Payment runs through Stripe Checkout; we never see your card number.

Question 12

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

If a cut file is defective, email info@monumize.com within 30 days of payment and we’ll fix it or refund the job. A refunded job’s files are locked. We can’t refund for errors in details you entered (sizes, corners, dates, spelling) or after the lettering has been cut.

Question 13

Do you offer volume discounts?

Accepted Answer

If your shop letters more than 20 stones a month, get in touch and tell us how you work. Otherwise the $49 per-job price applies.

Question 14

Is my data private?

Accepted Answer

Every account is isolated by Supabase Row Level Security — nobody else can see your jobs or files. Staff access is audit-logged and limited to support cases you have opened.

Question 15

What happens to the photos I upload?

Accepted Answer

They are stored in a private bucket on your account. They are used to generate your previews and cut files, and nothing else. We do not train models on your uploads.

Question 16

Can I re-download the files later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Paid jobs stay in your dashboard and every file can be re-downloaded from the job page, and re-generating the same job is free. The one exception is a fully refunded job, whose files are locked.

Question 17

What if my shop needs a different format?

Accepted Answer

Most cutters and sign software take DXF, EPS or PLT. If you need a format we don’t ship today, tell us which one and what software reads it.

Question 18

Who do I contact for support?

Accepted Answer

Email info@monumize.com for anything: an active job, volume questions, privacy requests or security reports. Monument shops can also use the form on the Get started page.
